Next up in our Bartender Profile series is Greg, our resident cocktail expert who has been with Cruisen Cocktails from the start!
Hometown – Perth
Bartending Experience – Started as a glassie at The Botanica about 7 years ago and worked my way onto the bar and then experimenting with different drinks and combinations. I have been with Cruisen Cocktails since the start (around 7 years ago), which gave me the skills to work with a Cocktail Catering company in London for 2 years, Liquid Chefs. There I was lucky enough to be in their core team which meant I was able to work and manage some awesome events around the UK and even Europe.
Interests Outside Making Cocktails – Technology is a big interest of mine and I love finding out about new gadgets and studies that have come out. This isn’t exclusive to electronic gear though, my favourite gadgets are the ones that use simple mechanics.
Favourite Cocktail – Tom Collins, I love gin! And it’s so easy and versatile.
What Makes a Great Party – The people, you tend to forget about most other things when you’re in good company.
Best Advice for Making Cocktails – Keep it simple!
Funniest Thing Witnessed From Behind The Bar – One of my events in London had a silent disco, with two DJ’s playing on different channels both playing very different music. There was one guest that may not have realised there was a second DJ or maybe he just had the wrong one, but he was shouting requests and singing and dancing at the wrong DJ.
Favourite Bars in Perth – I’m excited by all the new bars that have opened up since I have been away, but I’m yet to go to a lot of them. Varsity Bar in Nedlands is always good though.
